Friday July 15 - Dublin Castle Pictures!
Friday was a pretty long and uneventful day! We had shortened classes in the morning again, and afterwards we had some free time before a tour of Dublin Castle. Yes, that sounds familiar - we walked around the courtyard and the tower in our walking tour. However, we got to go inside and see the ruins of the older tower along with the the newer areas of the tower.
There's a lot of facts and a lot of cool stuff, but it was too much information for me to put here let alone to remember. I will let you know how Dublin got it's name! Behind a part of the castle there was a little pool of water named "Black Pool" due to the intense pollution of the water. They didn't have plumbing like modern times, so this was old bath water and drainage from the toilet areas. Black Pool also means in Gaelic (the old Irish language) Dubh Linn. Hence Dublin, Ireland.
Here's a lot of the photos from our tour. I absolutely LOVE the chandeliers and history displayed here. It's quite beautiful, and the castle is still used today.
